Apple Music Takes Down Ye's 'Vultures 1' Following Dispute With Fuga

Published February 15, 2024

Recently, Apple Music removed the latest album 'Vultures 1' by the artist Ye, who was previously known as Kanye West. The removal occurred after the album's distributor, Fuga, announced that the upload of the album went against their service agreement. Despite this setback for Ye, his album 'Vultures 1' is expected to reach the top spot on the charts.

Dispute Leads to Album Removal

Apple Music's drastic decision to pull Ye’s album didn't come with an immediate explanation. The action was taken shortly after Fuga, an independent distributor, claimed that the release of 'Vultures 1' on their platform was a violation of their service terms. The future of the album's availability on Apple Music remains uncertain as it may require a different distributor for its return.

Ye's Potential Chart-Topping Release

'Vultures 1,' a collaborative project with R&B singer Ty Dolla Sign, signifies Ye's potential return to prominence following a year of controversy mainly due to his antisemitic comments. Ye's relationship with the music and fashion industries deteriorated, leading to the severance of major partnerships, including with Adidas. However, Ye sought to redeem himself by issuing an apology through a social media post written in Hebrew last December.

The album generated significant buzz with its release, backed by listening events that attracted large crowds. Despite the enthusiasm, the album's release was marred by technical issues and legal complaints, including unauthorized samples from artists like Ozzy Osbourne and Donna Summer.
