The Top Jazz Concerts of the Year

Pat Metheny, a guitarist renowned for his artistry, faced an unexpected challenge during a solo performance when a disruptive couple in the audience frequently interrupted his set. Despite these interruptions, Metheny delivered a captivating musical journey on his guitars.

Anthony Braxton, the revolutionary saxophonist, returned to San Diego after a long hiatus with a solo recital at UC San Diego's Conrad Prebys Concert Hall. His performance was a demonstration of masterful skill and profound expression. Singer and pianist Diana Krall paid homage to her late collaborator, Tony Bennett, with an emotionally charged concert at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay that included a touching rendition of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
