Chaepter Negro Celebrates New Album 'Naked Era' with Chicago Full-Band Show

Published March 19, 2024

Last week in Chicago, multi-talented musician Chaepter Negro introduced his latest solo work, the album Naked Era. Known simply by his first name, Chaepter, this artist has roots in central Illinois and began his musical journey at age six with the cello and piano. Relocating to Chicago in 2019 was a big move to immerse himself into the vibrant music scene with the help of local band the Red Scarves, who guided him in establishing connections and getting shows booked. Chaepter also took advantage of their musical expertise for his performances.

Even when the pandemic hit, limiting live performances, Chaepter didn’t stop creating; he kept the musical flame alive with his first self-released album, Kicking the Cat. His recent studio project, Naked Era, marks a significant departure from his previous DIY method, involving collaboration with professional engineers and focusing on a guitar-centric sound for the songwriting.

The album rollout isn’t complete without a celebration. On March 21, Chaepter takes the headline slot at Schubas Tavern with a full backing band to bring Naked Era to the stage. The event promises a line-up of opening acts, including Fruitleather, Gerfety, and Drumset, with tickets reasonably priced and a guaranteed energetic kick-off at 8 PM. Chaepter’s music, which he tags as 'midwest gothic' on Bandcamp, reaches new heights in this live full-band show.
