Kate Hudson Debuts with Single 'Talk About Love'

Published January 30, 2024

For Kate Hudson, the release of her debut single 'Talk About Love' was not a question of 'if' but 'when'. Growing up with influences like Pearl Jam, Madonna, and Sheryl Crow, Hudson has been intimately involved with music for most of her life, writing songs and joining tours, always weaving her personal narrative into her music.

Hudson shares, "I've always kept a piano close since living on my own, truly living through songs since childhood. But it's all about the right moment, the perfect timing to let the music out. And for me, that moment has finally arrived."

The Birth of 'Talk About Love'

The debut track, made in collaboration with Linda Perry and musician/songwriter Danny Fujikawa, is a mix of rock and pop that aims to hit a chord within the depths of love and connection. Hudson's intent for her first single was to encapsulate vibrancy and sensuality, mixed with elements of her favoured genres including rock, pop, dance, and alternative.

Produced independently alongside Johan Carlsson and Fujikawa, Hudson's sound is an amalgam of freshness and nostalgia. Renowned for her portrayal of Penny Lane in 'Almost Famous', Hudson waited for the alignment of the right time and sound before unveiling her musical ambitions.

"After Linda heard me sing, she dared me to produce a full album. That was the push I needed, and now, after fully committing to crafting the songs, the music production naturally fell into place," Hudson reflects on starting her musical journey.

Looking Ahead

With 'Talk About Love' already creating a stir, Kate Hudson is set to release a full album later this year. Her transition from actress to musician reflects a blend of the dramatic and detailed art of storytelling through song, slowly unveiling her insights into love, desire, and human connections.
