Leadership Change at MetroED

In related education and community news, Alyssa Lynch, the long-serving superintendent of the Metropolitan Education District (MetroED), has recently announced her upcoming retirement. Set to depart at the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year, Lynch has dedicated 11 years to leading MetroED, after a previous nine-year tenure at the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Lynch is recognized for overseeing MetroED's shift to local funding, an initiative that expanded access to Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) courses for juniors and seniors throughout Santa Clara County, irrespective of their high school districts. The expansion has made the SVCTE more inclusive, offering valuable skills and career opportunities to a broader student base.

Lynch is committed to remain in her position through June and is part of the planning to ensure a seamless transition. MetroED's governing board is in the midst of selecting her successor, anticipating that an overlap period will take place for a smooth passing of the leadership baton.
