High Performance Rodeo Launches with Kid Koala’s The Storyville Mosquito in Calgary

While mosquitos aren't buzzing outdoors, the Bella Concert Hall at Mount Royal University will be alive with their presence on stage this Wednesday night.

Introducing Kid Koala’s The Storyville Mosquito

A spectacle for the entire family, multimedia artist and DJ Kid Koala presents The Storyville Mosquito. This unique performance combines miniature sets, live puppetry, original cinematography, and musical performances by Kid Koala himself alongside a string trio. The narrative follows a young mosquito's journey from the countryside to the big city in pursuit of his dream to be part of one of the best jazz bands at Sid Villa’s Music Hall.

The adventure unfolds as a live animation of a graphic novel, similar to Kid Koala’s previous show Nufonia Must Fall Live. With themes like honesty, improvisation, internal thoughts, style, and teamwork, the show is not only entertaining but also thought-provoking.

High Performance Rodeo’s Diverse Lineup

The Storyville Mosquito is just the beginning of 2024's High Performance Rodeo. This performing arts festival, spanning three weeks, features an array of international acts ranging from solo performances by Kids in the Hall members to a magic-comedy show to innovative dance and theatrical productions. The festival is scattered across various venues in the city, celebrating the diverse world of performing arts.
